YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin is home to Spirit Farms Riding Center and offers a premier equestrian experience. From the beginning rider to the advanced, our programs offer a variety of options for riders of all levels and styles. Designed for campers with a passion for horses, our program is accredited by the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and is the only YMCA camp in Michigan with this certification.

Have fun, learn, and grow during these specialized camps and make the most of your summer at YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin. SKATEBOARDING DAY CAMPS (AGE 7-12, Co-ed) There’s nothing better than shreddin’ it on our skate park! Use our awesome park to perfect and learn ollies, kickflips, and other tricks. Skill appropriate lessons will be taught by our experienced skate staff. GOLF CAMP (AGE 9-15, Co-ed) Beginners and intermediate golfers will spend a large part of each day on the course learning the great game of golf. Campers are taught rules, etiquette, how to play, and how to keep score. A 9-hole game is played at the end of the week. WATER SPORTS CAMPS (AGE 8-15, Co-ed) Spend the day on Barlow Lake! Beginners and advanced campers alike will be instructed in water ski and wakeboard skills. Traditional camp activities are also included in this day camp. SOCCER CAMP (AGE 6-14, Co-ed) Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Camps provide young players of all abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Campers will be exposed to individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games and scrimmages. Your child will receive a free t-shirt, soccer ball, giant fold-out poster, and a personal player evaluation. This is a one-of-a-kind camp experience. GLUTEN FREE CAMP June 28 – July 3, 2015 (AGE 7-17, Co-ed) We recognize food challenges! That’s why we designed this camp, so you can spend a worry-free week having fun in a traditional overnight camping setting while eating delicious gluten-free food. WATER SPORTS CAMP (AGE 9-15, Co-ed) Centered on beautiful Barlow Lake, this exciting water-focused camp features water skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, paddleboarding and kneeboarding. Knowledgeable, well-trained staff will keep campers safe and smiling all week long. CAMP CORRAL (AGE 8-15, Co-ed) We are excited to bring you this one-of-a-kind week of summer camp! YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin is proud to be one of just 18 camps in 14 states to offer this camp free of charge to qualifying campers. Any child ages 8-15 in a military family is eligible. Priority is given to children in a family with a wounded, disabled, or fallen service member. HORSE CAMP Take the reins on an exciting experience at YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin’s Horse Camp. It’s a horse lover’s dream. HORSE OVERNIGHT CAMP (AGE 8-15, Co-ed) If you are looking for a more in-depth riding experience and love to spend time riding horses, this camp is for you. Getting to know horses and learning to care for and feed them is all part of the fun. Campers will be placed in groups according to their experience level – from beginner to advanced – and will participate in daily riding lessons. There will be a weekly equine-related trip or guest speaker. If you love horses, this is the ultimate equestrian experience! HORSE DAY CAMPS (AGE 8-15, Co-ed) This is a great introduction to our Horse Camp programs! Keeping education fun while also keeping safety in mind, campers will not only learn how to ride, but will also get to know each horse, learn how to groom and feed them, as well as participate in traditional camp activities. This is a great stepping-stone to our Horse Overnight Camp programs. ADVANCED HORSE CAMPS: Advanced riding camps are available by application only. Please contact camp at 888.909.2267. You must prequalify. ADVANCED ENGLISH/WESTERN (AGE 11-16, Co-ed) June 22-27 Not sure which style you like the most? This week is a perfect time to try something new or fine-tune your skills. During this week, you may have the opportunity to try vaulting, round penning, driving, and roping. ADVANCED WESTERN (AGE 11-16, Co-ed) July 6-11 During this week, you will focus on developing a better Western seat to help you gain more confidence and improve your skills. We will be looking at the different disciplines of Western riding such as trail, drill team, gymkhana, pleasure riding, and, of course, having fun. ADVANCED CAREERS WITH HORSES (AGE 11-16, Co-ed) June 13-18 Have you dreamed of a career with horses? Discover your passion as you explore the numerous opportunities in the equine world. Open to English and Western riders. ADVANCED ENGLISH (AGE 11-16, Co-ed) August 3-8 Time to develop the skills needed for a stronger riding seat and get ready to jump! Build your confidence and partake in basic jumping exercises during this week. We will also develop your grid work, learn to count strides, and spend time on course work. ADVANCED DRIVING WEEK (AGE 11-16, Co-ed) August 10-15 Earn your SPIRIT Farms Driving License! The focus of this week is on driving our miniature horses. By the time the week comes to the end, you will know how to harness up the horses and drive safely. Gain valuable experience as we work on the three main phases of combined driving: dressage, marathon, and cones course. This week is open to both English and Western riders.
