Community Gardens

Located throughout the Grand Rapids community, Y gardens are designed to teach children and families how to design and plan a garden, how to grow vegetables and herbs, and various ways to prepare and eat the freshly grown produce.

Children explore a variety of vegetables to determine what they want to plant, then plant, care for and harvest their crops. In some instances, families gather together for meals around the garden, and are given recipes to take home. These gardens have served as a catalyst for bringing community and families together.
