On Thursday November 6, from 12:00-1:00pm, the Visser Family YMCA will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the renovation and expansion of their facility.

In the past year, the Visser Family YMCA has expanded their fitness equipment offerings by adding 17 new machines and 3 additional family locker rooms. They have also renovated the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms and the pool area, allowing access to the spa from the pool. At the Ribbon Cutting event guests will tour the facility renovations and have lunch, generously provided by Bagger Daves.

After fourteen years in operation, the Visser Family YMCA found that it needed an upgrade of it’s facilities and equipment – which serves over 2,000 members. The renovation expands the facility’s ability to accommodate an even greater variety of programs and workout areas for the whole family.

The expansions and renovations include:

  • 3 new family locker rooms
  • 17 new pieces of Cybex exercise equipment
  • State-of-the-art Men’s and Women’s locker rooms
  • Renovated pool area

“We are thrilled to expand our equipment and facility. We are grateful to have such supportive individuals and families in our community, helping us press on toward the goal of involving one in five youth, teens and their families in year-round healthy activities,” said Visser Family YMCA Executive Director Kendall Klingelsmith.

“What sets the Y apart from other organizations is our ability to provide programs such as our Impact Afterschool Program, swimming lessons, wheel chair basketball, and youth sports to every member of our community, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Klingelsmith. “The Y gives health and opportunity to those who need it most, but can sometimes least afford it.”

The Visser Family YMCA is a branch of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, with seven locations throughout Greater Grand Rapids.
