Ages/Lessons

Parent and Child Lessons — Age 6 Months - 5

Very young children gain comfort in and around water while spending time bonding with their parent in the pool.

Skip

It’s never too early to learn skills for confidence, safety and survival in and around the water. Swimmer must be at least 6 months old on first day of class and be able to control head movement.

Pike and Parent

This class aids in your swimmer’s transition to the preschool program. Swimmers will learn basic strokes and skills.

Preschool Swim Lessons — Age 3-5

Beginner (Pike)

No prerequisite. Swimmers will gain comfort and confidence in the water while learning basic stroke and skills.

 

Pre-requisites: Ability to perform these skills

  • Put face up to ears in water for at least 3 seconds
  • Perform front and back float 10 seconds with assistance
  • Swim 5 yards on front or back with flotation
  • Listen and follow directions

Intermediate (Eel)

Must pass Pike or perform equivalent skills. For swimmers who are well adjusted to the water and want more independence.

 

Pre-requisites: Must pass Pike or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back float 3-5 seconds with no assistance
  • Swim 10 yards on front and back with flotation
  • Swim 2 yards on front with face in the water and no flotation,    and 2 yards on back without flotation
  • Jump into shallow water and recover to wall

Advanced (Ray)

Must pass Eel or perform equivalent skills. For swimmers who are ready to further develop stokers in deeper water.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Eel or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back float 10 seconds without flotation and recover to a stand
  • Swim 10 yards on front and back with flotation
  • Swim 5 yards on front and back without flotation
  • 5 underwater bobs
  • Jump into water over their head and recover to wall

Advanced (Starfish)

Must pass Ray or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers review skills, get introduced to the breaststroke and butterfly, develop endurance, and perfect rescue skills.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Ray or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back alternating paddle 20 feet
  • Front and back symmetrical paddle 20 feet
  • Tread water 10 seconds
  • Perform front and back glides
  • Jump into deep water and recover to wall

Kids Swim Lessons — Age 6+

Beginner (Polliwog)

Must pass Pike/Eel or perform equivalent skills. For swimmers who are well adjusted to the water and want more independence.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Pike/Eel or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back float 3-5 seconds with no assistance
  • Swim 10 yards on front and back with flotation
  • Swim 2 yards on front with face in the water and no flotation, and 2 yards on back without flotation
  • Jump into shallow water and recover to wall

Beginner (Guppy)

Must pass Ray/Polliwog or perform equivalent skills. For swimmers who are ready to further develop strokes in deeper water.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Ray/Polliwog or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back alternating paddle 20 feet
  • Front and back symmetrical paddle 20 feet
  • Tread water 10 seconds
  • Perform front and back glides
  • Jump into deep water and recover to wall

Intermediate (Minnow)

Must pass Starfish/Guppy or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers refine crawl strokes and develop skills for advanced strokes.

 

Prerequisites: Pass Starfish/Guppy or ability to perform these skills:

  • Front and back float 30 seconds
  • Front alternating paddle with flip on back for breath 25 yards
  • Back alternating paddle with flip on back for breath 25 yards
  • Front and back symmetrical paddle 25 yards
  • Tread water 20 seconds
  • Perform 10 underwater bobs

Intermediate (Fish)

Must pass Minnow or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers gain endurance and practice advanced strokes.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Minnow or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back crawl 25 yards
  • Front and back flutter kick 25 yards
  • Whip kick 15 yards
  • Scissors kick 25 yards
  • Perform breaststroke arm pulls 15 yards
  • Tread water 40 seconds

Advanced (Flying Fish)

Must pass Fish or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers work on stroke refinement and work on more advanced skills.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Fish or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back crawl 50 yards
  • Breaststroke 25 yards
  • Sidestroke 25 yards
  • Dolphin kick 25 yards
  • Tread water 3 minutes

Advanced (Shark)

Must pass Flying Fish or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers focus on perfecting strokes and are introduced to competitive swimming.

 

Pre-requisites: Pass Flying Fish or ability to perform these skills

  • Front and back crawl 100 yards
  • Breaststroke 50 yards
  • Elementary backstroke 50 yards
  • Sidestroke 50 yards
  • Butterfly 25 yards
  • Tread water 6 minutes

Adult Lessons — Age 18+

Beginner

No prerequisite. For adults that are uncomfortable around water. Swimmers will gain comfort and confidence in the water while learning basic stroke and skills.

Intermediate

Must pass Beginner or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers refine basic swim strokes and are introduced to more advanced strokes.

 

Prerequisites: Complete Basic Water Adjustment or ability to perform these skills

  • Demonstrate comfort walking away from the pool area wall
  • Float for 10 seconds on front and back
  • Stand up from a front or back float
  • Swim with face in the water for 15 yards
  • Kick on back for 15 yards

Advanced

Must pass Intermediate or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers gain endurance and practice advanced strokes through techniques and drills.

 

Prerequisites: Complete Stroke Development or ability to perform these skills

  • Front crawl 50 yards without stopping
  • Back crawl 50 yards without stopping

Jump Start Four-Day Clinics — Age 3-12

Jump Start Four Day Clinics:

Taught by certified instructors, our four day clinics will help your swimmer reach new levels whether they are learning how to swim for the first time or they are aspiring to compete on a swim team. Each swimmer will receive attention with instruction focused on stroke development, technique, lifesaving skills, and more. All levels are welcome and will be separated by age and skill level.
